mini-MUM It's winter!

Time to prepare for the Christmas season!

With this exhibit, in the vestibule of St George Cathedral, we're sharing a few winter items.

The top shelf displays an example of winter season wear. A beaded sheepskin vest, a woolen hat and a sampling of clothing images from a special collection of drawings by Ukrainian artist Olena Kulchytska (1877-1967) from the early 20th century. They are copies from a series of watercolours from the album 'Folk Costumes of the Western Regions of the Ukrainian SSR' (1959).

The exquisite embroidery with the tassels is an apron - used only during very special occasions.

The 1939 bag from St. Nicholas surely contained a treasure of golden walnuts!

On the lower shelf, some koliada song books and Christmas record albums from the Museum collection. They are decades old - but still sound great!

The season of Rizdvo would not be complete without a didukh, a candle, and, a scene of the Nativity.
