Curated Theft
Kyiv Independent media outlet has released the documentary "Curated Theft" detailing the fall of 2022 looting of the Kherson Art Museum and the Kherson Museum of Local History.
Described as the largest museum theft in Europe since World War II, valuable works of art and archaeological artifacts, including gold from the Scythians, Goths, and Sarmatians were illegally removed. The officers of the russian fsb claimed to be 'saving' the collections which would be returned after the end of the war. However, the process of the thefts go against the legal requirements of the protection and preservation of cultural property during times of war and it's just another example of attempts to destroy Ukraine's unique cultural heritage to claim there is no Ukraine.
